Steve - o

Ok, so I've been fussed at because I built suspense with the "stay tuned next time" and I haven't posted anything yet. I've also been told that someone wants more of "dr. skinny" which is funny because I have a hilarious blog about my class today but I'll write that tomorrow. Tonite before I go to bed I'll spill the beans and give you our news (which i think by now most of you have heard.)

When I married William, I got a two - for - one package deal. Along with William came his sweet as sugar just turned 7 year old son. William had done a fantastic job raising Steven alone and it was part of the reason I married him. The day we got married Steve got a ring out of the gumball machine and gave it to me. He figured Dad was giving me a ring, he might as well too! :) Steven was a fantastic kid. I wish I had been old enough or mature enough to realize just how wonderful he was. We went through some rough years of adding in other siblings, etc, and I regret to this day I wasn't a better mama to him through several years. But, I'd grown up some and we'd become more comfortable, and by jr high - high school we did much better and I can honestly say to this day Steven is my son and one of my best friends. He is incredibly kind hearted, a wonderful big brother, a fantastic artist, and drives a cool jeep that runs on occasion-ha!

Steve is now 19 years old. He lives with some guys in a house here in town. He works on campus at ITS and at Bops where he is a shift supervisor (we're so proud.) We don't see him too much now, except when he's out of food or needs a hair cut or to borrow money. :) I miss my boy.

Steve ACTUALLY went on vacation with us this summer. It was great. He got to really get some hanging out time with the kids..... who adore him..... and even managed to play with Dad out in the water.

Steven tried attending college at MSU. He figured out (after enrolling 3 semesters.... i didn't say attending, I said enrolling) that it really wasn't his thing.
Steven called us a few weeks ago and said he was going to meet with the Air Force recruiter and wanted his dad to go with him. They went, and they talked. Steven went to Jackson for his physical stuff, and a couple of weeks ago my son was sworn into the United States Air Force! We are so thrilled for him. For the first time in a couple of years, Steve is happy again, and has a spark to him. He's found a purpose, a goal. He knows what he wants now. He's so excited.
He will probably not leave for basic training (San Antonio, TX) until January but it could possibly be sooner. Until then he's just working and hanging out with his buddies and going to those awful MSU football games (ugh.)
So that's it. That's our news. My biggest baby is an airman now. We are just crazy proud. As he starts, we'll keep you all posted.
Ok, Paoli....... blog on Dr. Skinny tomorrow. I'm sleepy tonite!!!!! :)
